Joana’s Parents look at each other and that which they labored over 38 years before, as the USA was celebrating their Labor Day, her family and friends were celebrating her Birthday for which her mother labored.
It was fitting that there was a strawberry round-a-bout on the way to the party, since that is how Joana Guerra and I met in a round-a-bout way.
On this day, while Joana celebrated with friends, I remembered how she helped me to find a sense of place in Portugal, and now a sense of friendship.
