The time has come, for me to take a vacation from my travels. What more fitting way to finish my 3rd orbit of earth in two years than taking the longest existing commercial flight from Auckland to Dubai, on a trip that would start near the International Date Line near Queenstown NZ and end in Lisboa, Portugal past the line of Greenwich Mean Time, more than half the Earth in both time and distance. Two cities that are nearly longitudinal and latitudinal opposites.
With a sign directing arrivals to the heavens on my start, to a landing in Auckland and a multiple sunset, numbering 4, in what I now call New Sunland, I departed for Dubai, on the edge of evening’s beginning; landing in Dubai on the edge of dark’s ending, where on departure there were but two suns.
I found myself then flying over the history of the Western World, Mesopotamia, Phoenicia, Judah the Nile, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Carthage, Spain, ending this historical tour by air with a landing in Lisboa, Portugal. An Odyssey of 8 hours, as opposed to Homer’s Odyssey which lasted decades, not covering as much ground and water as I had air in a day and a bit.
My landing ended with a Sunset to close the day, and a portal below with waters bellowing, to beckon me to new discoveries of life to come, as the skies darkened and I started a rest, to prepare for the rest of my life, which remains.
I now will spend a month or so in a Hostel environment, I know so well, as I take a vacation from my travels.
Now talking about hostile environments; I hope you enjoy the photos and videos, it is not easy sitting on the tail wing, in the jet’s wind taking pictures of night and morning time landings/takeoffs and an out of plane experience to take photos of the plane from the outside prior to landing.
My alogies, Facebook makes it challenging to see videos once uploaded and to post them in order, so I am sorry that my videos are not in the correct sequence.
