In my travels I have had the opportunity to meet numerous industrious women, each who have found a way to make their part of the world better for others. I will be posting a story on each, in the order I met them. Fiji – Senimili Meli, met when she and her cousin Nikki assisted me with posting packages internationally. Meli is a recently engaged primary school teacher, who uses a camera I sent her to capture Fijian life. Katrina We met while I went on a Township tour as part of 4 country Safari trip I was on. I wrote a story about her 7 month old grandson, and her Community Activist work to help over 20,000 unsettled people to find settlement. We have worked together on many projects from agriculture, to textiles and media. And now she has become my Ambassodor to others, that I have engaged with in in Africa. Zimbabwe – Brenda Dube, a pregnant waitress who was given a tip for her newborn baby, and named the baby for the man who gave the tip. Now celebrating life and birthdays’ ever since. Namibia – Angie Vroutjie Gomkhaises family, who was a receptionist, who we connected with over Rollingstone’s Angie. I have spent time with her and her family, who are now building a ‘Shopleft’ curbside store to sell homemade meat products. Nambia – Selma Ingah, met on the sandy streets of Swakopmund, she asked for to picture her. I gave her my travel card, and a few years later, assisted her with starting a Laundry in Northern Namibia, named for he daughter blessing. Namibia – Patemoshela Haulvouke (Shela) – a primary school teacher of 80+ who students awoke me each morning with songs of the day, from New Age Kindergarten. I worked with her during Covid to make sure her classes could go on and her students would be safe. She is pursuing ownership of her own school. India – Joya Sharma – who we met, when she was sitting on my seat on a train from Jaipur to New Delhi. She has helped me with voice overs, and product acquisition, as she works as a trainer for improving in-house communication skills, at the international company she works. Zimbabwe – Petty Mushimba, met while taking photos, and orphan who helps other orphans and is now a university student in Poland, studying nursing. Brazil – Ana Paula Andre – A cancer survivor, who now clowns around as she pursues a medical career and learns to drive.
