Grandmother and Granddaughter Not Yet Met

Orphan enterprise expands with a grandma. In March I shared a story of Petty Muchimba, an orphan who had started and organization to help Orphan’s like herself go to school.

One of our efforts involved raising 50 chicks and selling them as chickens. When the 50 chickens were sold, tuitions for 6 students were paid.

It was now time to reinvest, to help more. This time though Petition wanted 100 chickens, and with the help of an unmet Facebook friend LaVena Lary of Scappoose, Oregon, she aided with the investment needed to double the size for the enterprise.

An enterprise that almost lost flight, when its wings were clipped by the Covid lockdown, in Victoria Falls. The chickens could not be delivered until the lock down ended, at some time in the future.

Lavena, Petition and I worked out a strategy, to obtain the chickens, and with only a 3 day delay they were delivered.

One of the things we discussed with Petition, is if the orphans were going to benefit from our work and investment it would be good for them to help too. Which they did, the orphans began to help, with the project that would help them.

This also worked out well, because during this time Petition had a medical emergency which require hospitalization and incapacitation for 3 weeks. Not only did the orphans step in, but so did Petitions, Orphan support volunteer crew, “The Dream Team”.

All went smoothly despite the challenges, 14 chickens died as they do, and now they are in the process of selling the 86 chickens, to aid orphan and others during this Covid challenge.
A nice project really, providing money for tuition, and food for families, that might not otherwise have food to eat.

In the process of investing in the Orphan project Lavena Lary, has gone from being investor to Grandma, as she and Petition are developing a woman to woman friendship. With Lavena being there from afar, as Petition faces her medical and business challenges, as a result not alone.

In the post you will see Grandma (Investor) Lavena coordinating with Petty. Petty in the hospital, as the others including students, Hazel and Shryl, working with the Dream Team to keep our dream of helping others alive, as Petty recovered from her hospital care.
