Last weekend was wonderous, so much so, it will be posted in parts. St. Joao’s (St. John’s) weekend in Vila do Conde, was quite a celebration. Like any other there were parades, dancing, luna parks, drinking, food, music, fireworks and more.
But what was unusual for me was the joy teens and their parents had in engaging together in dance and more. A truly family weekend.
My first installment, then is a series of music dance videos, involving all ages and genders sharing the moment together.
In the first video we have a ‘Boston Boy’ working it, with the girls watching in joy as they moved with the music too.
The second video, with traditional Portuguese children’s folk dancing.
The third video, all combinations of fathers, daughters, mother’s and sons dancing with each other, irrespective of age or relation.
The fourth video, line dancing and hop dancing with style in motion.
And the fifth, teen girls with their moms and some dads rocking the Macarena.
All of this reminding me of the joy I shared with my children as we danced our way together.
