The nice thing about an emotionally challenging week is that it makes a nice week feel that much nicer; I hope? This week ended up being a challenge. For me a clown week, where you wear a smile on the outside and feel the sadness of misunderstanding on the inside. As a friend, says, “We are human.” This happens.
So was my melancholy week (nothing major, just life’s emotions gone awry, so not to worry). With that in mind, when things are not well for me I try to find ways to perk up. There was a clown show on Saturday that I missed, conflicting location details. Well I think they were conflicting, they were in Portuguese and I was not sure, which was right. So, I ended up missing out.
That being said, I found another show on the way back to my base village, where I got a bit my spirit back, as the clowns acted out a play of a woman who wanted to see her love, Antonio, and the issues that needed to be addressed to make that happen, including having the right gift. In this case, a lettuce plant. Why lettuce was to be the gift? I do not know. Its a clown show. But the head of lettuce she had was too big for the package it was to be placed in, so she traded, for a smaller lettuce plant, that was more fitting. At least for the box.
Hopefully the gift was well received by Antonio. As for the lady who got the larger head of lettuce she shared it with audience until her lettuce plant was the size of the one given.
It was nice to go to a local production and see the interaction with the audience and the lessons learned and shared, not only with the performance, but the question and answer session at the performance’s end, that lasted almost as long as the performance.
Despite my challenging week, the clowns, changed by frown to a slight closer to a grin. I licked my wounds of the week, and now I will appreciate a better week ahead. I will wear a smile, as a clown, with a little less angst, thanx to the clowns, who I hope finds ways to smile inside and out too.
As for the clowns, it was supposed to be a 3 clown show, but one clown, like me was having a bad week, and they made the best of the situation, as it is known no matter the challenges, “The Show (and life) Must Go On.” With this show being a romantic not sad clown story, as one clown helped another to get a gift that would fit in the small box but given with a big heart for Antonio, her love.
Clowns: Ilva Otero, Catorina Vez, Music: Rita So And an assistant who did everything else, Jezz Soares and Ines Neiva a clown unable to make it into town, this day.
