Croc Pot soup

August 19, 2017 · Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Lowered in a ‘Croc Pot’ we entered the chilled waters from the Zambezi and found ourselves confronting fears and semi conquering them.

This was Brenda Dudes (mother of Brendon) first time underwater (and frigid water even), ‘swimming’, in a wet suit, using a breathing apparatus, in a cage surrounded by crocodiles; left us breathless, literally. I shared some of these firsts with her.

But we survived. Our fears were so great the crocodiles were the least of them, being in cold waters, in a cage, trying to breath with an apparatus, had us most at unease. The owner and guide were most helpful and we survived a once in a life time experience.

Watch as we prepare, sign our lives away, enter the waters, as we try to survive as a crocodile encircles us, as if we are animals in a zoo, and he is observing our erratic, animalistic survival behavior.

I was impressed how Brenda took on this challenge and overcame it. One thing I enjoy about my travels, is I get the opportunity to take people to see and experience life in their own back yard that they have not had time, or maybe finances to experience.

We have had so much fun watching her son Brendon hold a crocodile by the tale, her swimming with crocodiles; we will spend what has turned out to be our crocodile weekend, running the rapids of the crocodile infested Zambezi River. For us, this weekend has been a Croc.
