Toronto Pearson International Airport.
As astronauts and deep sea divers coming back to Earth’s surface need to reacclimatize to the atmosphere, I find myself in a Montrealian cooling block ice chamber helping me to transition from Cuba to Ice-Cuba-Land AKA Iceland conditions. I am now ready for my evening departure from Toronto, Canada, which will end with a pre-sunrise landing in Reykjavik, Iceland.
I await my flight north in the comfort of modern technology, ever so soft and cushy seats, and food at the touch of an I-Pad screen. Much cushier travel than my immigrant family experienced to get to the promised land.
