Jesus Missed Me.

Missed by Jesus! 🙁
Sad she was. She shared, as I had run out of my last bottle of cooking oil for each of the village homes. She was missed once again by Jesus, she said; as many feel who live on civilization’s edge. “Jesus always misses me.”, she said with her head down, walking back into her home.

But she was not missed. It took a few months, until she could be unmissed. For with the help of Monde Litungi, I was able to arrange, a bottle of cooking oil just for her. By the looks of photos taken, she was quite taken with the Miracle of the Unmissed, as she ran in celebration and thanks for a miracle not expected.

In November 2019, as I walked through this little village of reed and block homes, to capture Sun and Moon sets upon the Baroste Plain of Zambia. The villagers would ask me for a few coins for cooking oil. I did not give them the coins. For with their few coins they could only buy a days portion of oil. Instead, on the eve of my departure I brought a case, 24 One Liter bottles of oil, 100 days worth each for the people who lived there.

But then, I found, to my sadness too, there were 25 homes, one more than a case. In this case, I was bottle short. All the village was glad, except for one who was left sad and forgotten, once again.

This is no longer the case, as all were remembered. I was not there to hear her words, but I think, she had some good words of thanks, for Jesus as she bounded into her house to make a blessed meal.

Thank you to Monde Litungi for answering her prayer and Taddy Manyepo for the photos taken on our day of sharing with my neighbors.
